Kuudere AI Girlfriend
Kuudere is the cold one: kuu from the English "cool", joined to dere-dere, so literally cool on the outside and soft underneath. Unlike a tsundere she is not prickly - she is level. Flat delivery, short sentences, no visible reaction, and affection that arrives as a small precise gesture rather than a declaration. On Girli there is no button labelled kuudere, and rather than invent one we will tell you which existing presets produce it: mysterious (warmth 45, stability 75, boundaries 80) and calm (stability 90, forgiveness 80, jealousy 25). Between them 16 and 16 characters. The first 10 messages on an account are free. Everyone here is a fictional adult.
What kuudere means
The kuu is borrowed English: cool, in the temperature sense rather than the approval one. A kuudere keeps a flat surface not because she is defending anything but because that is her register. She does not raise her voice, she does not perform enthusiasm, and she is often the most competent character in the room. The dere half is real and it shows up in actions: she remembers what you take in your coffee and hands it over without comment.
The contrast with the neighbouring types is the whole reason the vocabulary exists. A tsundere is loud about being distant. A dandere is visibly nervous. A kuudere is neither loud nor nervous - she is simply not reacting, which is why she is the hardest of the three to write and the easiest to get wrong. Written badly she reads as an assistant with a name.
There is no kuudere button, and here is why we say so
The engine ships 10 presets and kuudere is not one of them. We could add the word to a dropdown in an afternoon, and that is exactly the kind of thing that makes a product feel dishonest six messages in: the label would promise behaviour the numbers do not produce. What the axes do support is the temperature itself, from two directions.
- Mysterious - warmth 45, dominance 55, boundaries 80, message length 30, initiative 30, attachment speed 20. This is the withholding kind of cold: short answers, information released slowly, a wall you are aware of. 16 characters, 14 collected on the mysterious tab.
- Calm - stability 90, the highest of the 10, with warmth 60, jealousy 25 and forgiveness 80. This is the unbothered kind of cold: nothing rattles her, she is not hiding anything, she just does not escalate. 16 characters.
If you want the classic version - cold surface, quietly attached, never explains herself - mysterious is the closer match. If you want the calm-in-a-crisis version who is genuinely warm at low volume, take calm. Confident (dominance 75, stability 80) is a third neighbour and a common mis-pick: she is composed, but she is direct rather than closed.
What a cold character feels like across a week
This is where a flat register either works or falls apart, and the mechanics are worth knowing before you spend the free allowance on her.
Early on it is quiet. Message length 30 against 75 on the dreamer preset means her replies are genuinely short, and initiative 30 means she rarely opens. If your yardstick for a good chat is enthusiasm per message, she will read as broken. She is not; she is slow.
Then the stage moves. Attachment speed 20 is the lowest of the 10 presets, so the 5 stages take real time with her - and the payoff is that a warm line from a character at warmth 45 lands differently than the twentieth warm line from a character at 90. Scarcity is the whole mechanism of the trope, and it is the one thing a chat service cannot fake by turning up the affection.
The memory side is what makes it legible. Because 11 typed memory kinds are recording, her cold version of affection - repeating a detail you mentioned once, without comment - has something to draw on. That is the kuudere gesture in engine terms: no adjectives, one stored fact, correctly timed.
Kuudere, tsundere, dandere: the difference in one place
Same suffix, three different mechanisms, and picking the wrong one wastes a session.
- Kuudere - not reacting. Low warmth, high stability, low need for attention (30 on mysterious). Affection shows as precision.
- Tsundere - over-reacting in the wrong direction. Warmth 40, jealousy 70, forgiveness 20. Affection shows as denial. Full page: tsundere.
- Dandere - reacting, quietly, and embarrassed about it. Closest preset shy: dominance 15, warmth 75, initiative 25. Affection shows once she stops being scared of you. Covered on the dere types page.
Building one, and where it breaks
In the creator the personality step is where this is decided: choose mysterious or calm and let the rest of the character - job, vibe, look - carry the flavour. A cold register works best with an occupation that explains it, which is why the mysterious characters on the roster tend to have jobs where composure is the point.
Two honest failure modes. First, the free allowance: 10 messages per account is not much runway for the lowest attachment speed in the engine, so if you want to see the thaw rather than the surface, expect to be past the free tier. Second, the anime side is small - 4 written anime characters against 152 overall - so if you specifically want a drawn kuudere, the creator is the honest route rather than the anime tab.
Cost and the age line
The first 10 messages on an account are free with no card, as a one-off total rather than a daily allowance, and they do not refill. Photos are 1 per day free and 8 per day on premium.
Every character is fictional and an adult. A quiet, understated register does not imply anything about age here and we are deliberate about that: profiles carry adult ages and adult jobs, and nothing framed as underage is generated or discussed. See the content policy.
Kuudere AI Girlfriend FAQ
What does kuudere mean?
A character who is cool and unreactive on the surface and affectionate underneath - kuu from the English "cool" plus dere-dere. Unlike a tsundere she is not prickly, she is level, and her affection shows as small precise gestures.
Is there a kuudere option on Girli?
Not by that name. The closest presets are mysterious (warmth 45, stability 75, boundaries 80) and calm (stability 90). We would rather say that than add the label to a dropdown.
Which is closer to a classic kuudere, mysterious or calm?
Mysterious. It is the withholding kind of cold - short messages, low initiative, the lowest attachment speed in the engine. Calm is the unbothered kind: high stability, forgiveness 80, nothing hidden.
How long before a cold character warms up?
Longer than the free allowance usually covers. Attachment speed 20 is the lowest of the 10 presets and the 5 relationship stages move on accumulated interaction, not on message count alone.
Are there drawn kuudere characters?
There are 4 written anime characters in total, so the honest answer is to build one in the creator with the mysterious or calm preset and anime styling, rather than expect to find her on the anime tab.
