Dere Types Explained

The dere types are a fandom taxonomy for how a character expresses affection, built on one Japanese sound-word: dere-dere, going soft on someone. Each type prefixes that with a second word describing the shell around it - tsun-tsun for turning away sharply, kuu for cool, dan for the mumbling of someone too nervous to speak. This page is the whole list with two things wiki entries do not carry: which of the 10 presets on Girli actually produces each type, and how many characters currently run it. Three types have their own pages because there is enough to say; the rest are here, honestly, because a page each would be padding. The first 10 messages on an account are free, and every character is a fictional adult.

How the suffix works

Dere-dere on its own describes someone openly lovestruck. The taxonomy takes that as the constant and varies the surface: the affection is assumed, the question is what it has to get through. That is why the types are not personalities in the psychological sense - they are expression styles, and two characters of the same type can be nothing alike.

It also explains why the terms map onto a numeric personality model so cleanly. Warmth is the dere; the prefix is mostly a combination of dominance, boundaries, emotional stability and initiative. Here is what that looks like as actual presets.

Each entry: what the word means, and the closest thing the engine has. Where a preset is named, the axis values are the stored ones.

• Tsundere - sharp outside, soft inside, and unable to say the soft part. A real preset: warmth 40, jealousy 70, forgiveness 20, 18 characters. Own page: tsundere.
• Yandere - devotion turned obsessive; in fiction it runs to violence. Not a preset, and deliberately capped: jealousy and fear of loss are engine values, threats and stalking are refused. Own page: yandere.
• Kuudere - cool and unreactive, affection as precision rather than words. Closest: mysterious (warmth 45, stability 75) or calm (stability 90). Own page: kuudere.
• Dandere - dan from the mumble of someone too nervous to speak: quiet, anxious, warm once she trusts you. Closest preset shy - dominance 15, warmth 75, initiative 25, stability 45. 14 characters.
• Deredere - no shell at all: openly affectionate, cheerful, says what she feels. Closest preset romantic (warmth 90, attachment speed 80) or gentle (warmth 85, forgiveness 75). 21 and 14 characters. This is also where the genki label lands - genki means energetic and upbeat, which is the playful preset (humour 90, initiative 75, 19 characters) rather than a dere type at all.
• Himedere - hime is princess: she expects to be treated as one. Closest preset confident (dominance 75, boundaries 70, warmth 50), 21 characters, with bold (dominance 80) as the louder version.
• Kamidere - kami is god: the same demand as himedere without the charm, superiority as a default setting. Same presets, dialled up; the engine has no separate arrogance axis, so this one is a writing flavour on top of confident or bold rather than a numeric type.
• Oujidere - ouji is prince: the male counterpart of himedere. Girli's roster is female today, so this is on the list for completeness and nothing more.

Which of these is a button, and which is assembly

Two of the eight are presets you can pick by name: tsundere, and the deredere register through romantic or gentle. Everything else is a combination, and the difference matters because a picked preset is stored as numbers while a described character is only text in a biography. The engine reads the numbers first.

Practically: choose the preset whose axis values are closest, then use the biography and the job to carry the flavour the axes cannot express. A kamidere is confident plus written arrogance. A dandere is shy plus a quiet occupation. That is not a workaround - it is how the model is built, with 12 axes plus a deterministic per-character offset so no two characters on the same preset behave identically.

Why some types have a page and some do not

Straight answer, since it is visible from the outside anyway. We measured search demand for each of these words before writing anything: tsundere, yandere and kuudere are searched in the thousands per quarter, dandere and deredere in the low thousands, kamidere and oujidere in the hundreds and dozens. Product phrasings - the ones that look like a purchase, such as "kuudere ai" or "tsundere ai chat" - measured zero across the board.

So the demand here is people wanting to know what a word means, not people shopping for a preset. Three pages where there is enough to say, one glossary for the rest, and no empty page built to catch a phrase nobody types. From type to character

The types are a vocabulary for the first choice you make, and the roster is arranged so that choice is quick. The tsundere tab holds 17 characters, mysterious holds 14, and the anime tab holds the 4 drawn characters. Across the whole site there are 152 published characters in 27 categories.

After the type comes the situation, and those are separate: scenarios are pre-set openings, roleplay chat is the long-form version, and the interactive stories are the 4 choice-driven ones. A type tells you how she will react; a scenario decides what she is reacting to.

Cost and the age line

The first 10 messages on an account are free, no card. One-off total for the account, not a daily allowance, and no refill. Photos are 1 per day free and 8 per day on premium.

Every character is fictional and an adult regardless of type. The trope vocabulary comes out of fiction with settings we do not reproduce: profiles here carry adult ages and adult occupations, and nothing framed as underage is generated or discussed. The content policy spells out the rest.
