AI Character Chat

AI character chat means talking to a character rather than to a model with a persona pasted in front of it. On Girli the difference is where the character lives: not in the prompt but in a record - 12 numeric personality axes, a mood vector of 15 emotions, 13 relationship dimensions and 11 kinds of typed memory, read before every reply and written back after. There are 152 published characters across 10 archetypes and 27 browsable categories, plus a five-minute creator if none of them fit. Each character keeps its own thread, so what you told one is not known to another. The free allowance is 10 messages per account in total. Adults only.

Why a stored character behaves differently from a prompt character

A persona in a prompt lives exactly as long as the context window. When it falls out, the character quietly becomes the underlying assistant again - polite, agreeable, helpful. That is the drift everyone recognises and nobody can fix by writing a longer persona.

Here the character is a row. 12 axes hold the traits as numbers: warmth, dominance, jealousy, attachment speed, sexual openness, forgiveness, initiative, message length, humour, emotional stability, need for attention, boundaries. They are not adjectives the model can talk itself out of. Two practical results: a low-forgiveness character stays annoyed after you apologise, and a high-boundaries character declines things instead of agreeing to keep the conversation pleasant.

Talking to characters, one thread at a time

Every character you talk to gets a separate thread with its own memory, mood and relationship stage. Nothing is shared across them, and that is deliberate rather than a limitation we forgot to lift: shared memory would mean one character knowing a secret you told another, which reads as a bug the first time it happens.

It also means the 10 free messages per account are spent across all of them together. Spreading them over six characters buys six first impressions and no relationship; spending them on one gets you far enough to see whether the memory actually holds. The second is the more useful test.

The 10 archetypes, and how they read in chat

An archetype is a preset over the 12 axes. Each character then gets a deterministic jitter on top, so the preset sets the shape and the character keeps its own edges.

Counts are live from the roster. Browse them at all characters; each profile lists its axes, which is a better basis for picking than the cover photo. There are 25 male characters as well, at the men, on the same axes and the same memory.

What the character actually remembers about you

Not the transcript. 11 typed rows, which is what makes recall specific instead of vaguely warm: things about you, your promises, her promises, preferences, shared jokes, boundaries, conflicts, episodes, running loops, goals and wants. Up to 80 rows per thread, and every 30 incoming messages a background job rewrites a structured summary that keeps open threads and unresolved conflicts in their own fields.

The mechanism, with the failure modes, is in how memory works and how to make her remember you.

Making your own character instead of picking one

The creator takes about five minutes: look and style, then personality, then the relationship and the job. The face is generated by our own engine from the description, so it is not a stock photo of a real person, and it stays the same face across every later picture.

What it produces is a character you can talk to, not a text blob you export. There is no description-generator output to copy elsewhere, and there is no import: character cards from other tools do not load here. If you are moving a character over, the parts that carry are the traits and the job - those map onto the axes and the profile. The parts that do not are example dialogues, greeting scripts and lorebooks, because nothing here reads from a card at runtime.

Where character chat and roleplay overlap

They are the same engine pointed at two different things. Character chat is open-ended: you talk, she talks, over days. Roleplay is a scene with a situation and a shape, and it is where the stored state earns its keep. Most people arrive for the first and stay for the second.

If you want a situation to open rather than a blank first message, the roleplay hub sorts 15 written openings into five kinds, and roleplay chat covers the mechanics.

Limits worth knowing before you start

The short version, so nothing here is a surprise at message eleven.

  • An account is required to send a message - email and password, no card. Browsing is open.
  • The free allowance is 10 messages per account in total, shared across every character, and it does not reset.
  • Photos are hers to send: 1 a day free, 8 a day on premium. You cannot upload an image for her to look at.
  • Text only, in English. No voice calls, no video, no translated versions of these pages.
  • One character per thread; no group conversations.
  • 18+. Every character is fictional and depicted as an adult. Anyone under 18 in any framing, real identifiable people and anything illegal are refused - see the content policy.

AI Character Chat FAQ

What is AI character chat?

Chatting with a defined fictional character rather than a general assistant. On Girli the character is stored as numbers - 12 personality axes plus mood and relationship state - which the model reads before each reply and updates after it.

How many AI characters can I talk to?

152 published characters across 27 categories and 10 archetypes, plus anything you build in the creator. Each one keeps its own separate thread.

Is there a free AI character chat?

Yes, within a limit: 10 messages per account in total, on the full engine, with no card. It is a lifetime allowance shared across every character rather than a daily one, and it does not reset.

Can I import a character card?

No. Cards from other tools do not load. Traits and job map onto the creator by hand; example dialogues, greetings and lorebooks have no equivalent, because nothing here reads a card at runtime.

Is there an AI character generator or an AI character description generator?

There is a character generator: the creator builds a face from our own photo engine plus 12 personality axes in about five minutes. There is no description generator - it does not produce a text description you can copy into another tool. What it makes is a character in your own roster, ready to talk to.

Do the characters remember what I tell them?

Each thread stores up to 80 typed memory rows across 11 kinds, and rewrites a structured summary every 30 incoming messages. Memory is per character: what you told one is not known to another.

Are the character photos real people?

No. Every gallery is generated by our own face engine from that character's stored description, which is also why one character keeps the same face across every picture.
