Below those, spicy requests get a deflection in character rather than a refusal banner. There is one exception, roleplay mode, which has no stage gate at all. And there is one uncomfortable consequence worth stating up front: with 10 free messages per account, and a theoretical floor of 12 exchanges to the close stage, the adult register is in practice a paid part of the product even though nothing charges for it separately. An AI companion for adults, not a filtered assistant

The difference between an adult AI companion and a general chatbot with the safety rails loosened is where the state lives. A general assistant has no memory of you between sessions, so every adult conversation restarts from zero: you re-establish who you are, what you like, what you asked it never to do. So if what you want is NSFW roleplay rather than a relationship that gets there, the answer is to build a character in roleplay mode rather than to argue with one in relationship mode. Read the right-hand column first. The close stage has never been reached in fewer than 20 messages here, and intimate never in fewer than 50. The free allowance is 10.

Free unrestricted adult roleplay: which of those three words is true

Taken one at a time, because the phrase promises more than any site delivers. Roleplay is true and it is the one real exception on this page: a character created in roleplay mode has no stage gate, so the register is available from the first message instead of being computed from stored dimensions. Unrestricted is not true and will not become true. Three refusals hold in every mode and on every account - nobody under 18 in any framing, no real identifiable people, nothing illegal - and roleplay mode does not touch them. What roleplay removes is the pacing, not the policy. Free is true for exactly 10 messages per account, which is a one-off total rather than a daily reset, and that is enough to see how a character writes and not enough for a scene with an ending.

What is refused, permanently

Three things are refused by every character, in every mode, and they are not settings: anyone under 18, in any framing or wording; real identifiable people, including likeness requests; anything illegal. The refusal for the first one happens before the model is even called, and it blocks the photo path too.

This is not a filter with a strictness slider and it is not negotiable by prompt, because the first check runs on the raw text before anything else happens.
