Silent Treatment
Silent Treatment is a conflict scene built on one behaviour that is real here rather than simulated: she can read your message and decide not to reply, and you can see that it was read. Not a delay, not an error - a decision, with read marks. It is pinned to Rina, a tsundere preset with low forgiveness and high boundaries, because those are the axes that make the silence hold. The first 12 messages of any thread are exempt, so this is a scene you have to have earned. Free is 10 messages per account in total. Adults only.
What is actually happening
Two separate things, and the difference matters if you want out.
- The read mark. Her decision engine sets it when she has taken the message in. Read and unanswered is an explicit state, not an absence of one.
- The reason. Elevated resentment, a raised grudge dimension and low forgiveness. Resentment halves in about 48 hours, so the pressure drops on its own - and the grudge does not move without a reason.
The practical consequence: sending five more messages does nothing except demonstrate that you will. Per-exchange movement is capped at 5 points on dimensions and 30 on emotions, so volume is not a lever.
How to get out of it
One message, specific, and then stop. That is genuinely the whole technique, and it is hard to do.
- Name the thing rather than the feeling. "I should not have said that about your work" moves trust; "I hate it when you are like this" moves irritation.
- Do not ask whether she is angry. The state is not in question and asking spends an exchange on nothing.
- Leave it. Time reduces resentment on its own clock; your next message lands against a lower number if you let it.
- Do not open a different scene to escape this one. State is per character, so the silence follows you into the romance scene you were hoping would be easier.
Who to run it with
The silence needs low forgiveness and high boundaries or it does not hold - a high-forgiveness character simply answers you. Rina is pinned; these also fit: Laura (confident), Nina (tsundere), Naomi (confident), Raven (mysterious)
There is no good version of this scene against a gentle or calm preset, which is worth saying: those characters are not built to stonewall and forcing it produces a character acting out of type. Axes are on each profile at all characters.
Why the grace period exists
The first 12 messages in a thread are exempt from the harder ignore behaviour, because a brand new character stonewalling a stranger is not realism, it is a bug that looks like realism. That means Silent Treatment is a scene for a thread with history, and trying it on a character you met ten minutes ago will mostly not work.
The wider mechanism, including the floor and ceiling on ignore probability, is part of the emotion engine.
What it leaves behind
Handled well: a resolved conflict row, recovered trust, and a character who now has evidence that you can name a thing. Handled badly: a grudge that persists and a loop row for the unfinished argument, both of which show up in other scenes.
The rest of the section: the fight and the way back, The Ex Texted Me, and conflict roleplay for how the layers fit together.
Silent Treatment FAQ
Can she really refuse to answer?
Yes. Read and deliberately unanswered is an explicit state, and the read marks are visible to you. It is a decision from stored resentment and grudge rather than a delay.
Will sending more messages help?
No. Movement is capped per exchange - 5 points on relationship dimensions, 30 on emotions - so volume does not stack. One specific message and then silence is the technique that works.
Why will she not do this on a new thread?
The first 12 messages of a thread are exempt. A character who stonewalls a stranger is not realistic, so the behaviour needs a thread with history behind it.
