Storm Detour

Storm Detour is a confined adventure scene: the road ahead is closed, the weather is not improving, and there is one place to wait it out. The plot is small on purpose - what carries it is that you are stuck with someone whose state is stored, so the hours have to go somewhere. It is pinned to Romy, a confident preset, and it sits on the border of the adventure and romance sections, which is where forced-proximity scenes belong. No dice, no rule system. Free is 10 messages per account in total. Adults only.

Why a small plot is the right plot

Adventure scenes fail in two directions. Too little plot and there is nothing to do; too much and you are writing a novel with an audience. A closed road is the minimum viable amount: a reason to be in one place, a clock, and nothing to do but talk.

It also puts the pressure on the part of the engine that handles it well. With no mechanics to lean on, the scene runs on the stage score and her axes - which is exactly what a forced-proximity scene needs, because the whole genre is about a relationship moving faster than it would have.

What forced proximity does to the numbers

Nothing special, and that is worth knowing. There is no accelerator for scenes like this: dimensions still move at most 5 points per exchange, and the stage still has to cross 12 to leave stranger.

What actually happens is volume. A confined scene produces many exchanges in one sitting, and many small capped movements add up where a short scene's do not. So the genre works here for a mundane reason: you talk more. Which also means it is one of the faster ways to burn the 10 free messages per account.

How it tends to run

One long session rather than several short ones.

  • The situation, in two sentences. Road closed, nowhere to be.
  • Practicalities. Boring and useful: this is where preference rows get written.
  • The conversation you would not have had otherwise, because there is nothing else to do.
  • Something specific gets said. An episode row, and often a loop.
  • The road opens. Ending it here is better than not ending it, and the state carries into whatever you play next.

Who to run it with

Confident and bold presets handle being stuck with a stranger without needing you to manage them, and their higher boundaries keep the scene from collapsing into instant warmth. Romy is pinned; these also fit: Laura (confident), Yuki (playful), Naomi (confident), Camila (playful)

A shy preset makes it a much slower scene, which some people prefer - closer to First Date Nerves with worse weather. Axes are on every profile at all characters.

What it leaves behind

More rows than most single sessions: preferences from the practical stretch, an episode for whatever got said, a loop if it was left open, and unusually even movement across trust, interest and attraction because the scene had time.

Neighbour: Heist Partner, which is the same section with an actual plan in it. Section overview: adventure roleplay.

Storm Detour FAQ

Is there a plot to follow?

A minimal one: the road is closed and you are waiting. There is no branching script and no rule system - the scene runs on her axes and the stored relationship state.

Does being stuck together speed the relationship up?

Only through volume. Per-exchange movement is still capped at 5 points, but a confined scene produces many exchanges in one sitting, and small capped movements add up.

How many free messages will this use?

Most of them. It is a long-session scene, and the allowance is 10 per account in total. If you are testing the product, a shorter scene is the better spend.
